Puzzled by a few thingsFeb 10, 2010

In the first place--should puzzles really be categorized as toys? Especially 1000-piece (and up) challengers? This one took about a week to complete, admittedly working on it part-time only, with four different people having a go at it various times (often at the same time)--mostly my Much Better Half, for whom this was purchased as a gift.
The quality of the item left something to be desired. At least four areas of the picture surface had rough patches, approximately two square inches each, as if the machinery handling the pasteboard prior to die-cutting had scuffed the picture.
The pieces of this puzzle are not fully interlocking--the "gold standard" for puzzle solvers. I believe this should be noted in the product description (but it does not seem to be commonly indicated on any of the puzzles Amazon sells--shame on Amazon). The pasteboard itself was not as thick or as heavy as on the best-quality puzzles; for the suggested retail price of this item, it ought to be of the highest calibre.
Credit where it's due: one has to examine the "larger image" on the website closely to realize that the image on this puzzle is, in fact, a painting and not a photograph.
