Great holiday puzzleDec 29, 2008

I really liked this puzzle. It is great for a group around the holidays. The edge is innovative with the irregular shape and makes the edge assembly more difficult than for a standard rectangular puzzle which I enjoyed. The puzzle is challenging but still fun as the multitude of colors gives everyone something to work on. It is not "fully interlocking" but it is "interlocking enough." I really dislike puzzles that have pieces that just rest against each other - they immediately drift apart after you've put them together. Even though I can see places in the finished puzzle that have neighboring pieces with smooth edges, in practice it wasn't a problem - the smooth edges are short in length and infrequent in number. One can pick up assembled sections and move them to new locations. I was pleased with the quality - sturdy pieces, vibrant colors - although there was a lot of dust in the box. The description says the finished puzzle is 23" x 36" but I measured the longest length (left toe to top of toy soldier) at 39". I think it would just barely fit on a standard card table. We worked it on a 36" x 50" table and that was perfect.

A new Christmas TraditionJan 28, 2011

My wife deserves the credit for the idea behind ordering this jig-saw puzzle. You start laying out the puzzle a couple of weeks before Christmas day. Each day you take a few moments each day to attach the pieces to Santa. As the big day approaches, you have a bigger and better reminder that St. Nicholas is coming. You can start a new Christmas tradition in your home that everyone can participate in. It is unusual in that it is not the traditional rectangular shape. It's Santa himself!

Just finished this great puzzle. It will be framed. This was my first puzzle with irregular edges, which made it challenging in a fun way. I will be starting a new tradition of doing a Christmas jigsaw puzzle every year.

Lots of fun but a bit challenging since the edges are not straingt. Will buy another of the White Mountain puzzles. Their pieces are great.
