3Painting; not a photoJul 26, 2010
By Liz
Ravensburger puzzles are of great quality, but this particular puzzle was a disappointment. The picture here at Amazon, and on the box that I received, was of a photograph, but when I opened it, I found that the puzzle was of a painting (same scene). If I had wanted to do a painting, I would've chosen a Van Gogh. I bought this because I liked the photo; this makes me hesitate to buy any more Ravensburger's based on the photo on the cover.

5Photo- but with filter?May 02, 2011
By ChaCha
Very well constructed, as are all Ravensberger puzzles we've tried so far. As for the complaints that it is a painting, it does kind of have that look, but I think that it is a photo. Regardless, It didn't bother me whether or not it was a photo or a painting, as much as it bugged me that I wasn't sure which it is. It looks like a time-lapse photo ( you can see some people and boats that have moved during the exposure). It also looks like they used a photoshop filter that makes some of the crisp lines look a little broader and softer- almost as if they painted a little on top of parts of the photo. It looks like they either used one of those painterly filters in photoshop, or they over sharpened it in photoshop to compensate for a slightly out of focus image or maybe for the shutter drag.... So if you are picky on photo vs. painting, this is kind of in-between looking. it looks like a photo at first, but close up more painterly. If it is important to you, I have posted some detail photos of the image to help you figure out if it is for you. The colors are beautiful and I like the overall composition of the image... which is something I look for in puzzles.

5Awesome puzzle with great sceneryJul 22, 2011
By Richard Dolbeare "Engineering Hawaii Dreams Today"
This is an awesome puzzle that I worked on for several weeks before completion. It's very difficult because so many pieces are the same color. The buildings are harder than one would expect as well because each consists of only a few pieces.

If you want a great challenge and some very interesting scenery, then you will probably enjoy this one. That assumes you like spending hours and hours, week after week, in putting it together.

This puzzle is not only very challenging but is beautiful. Also the puzzles made by this company are of top quality and the pieces have substance. Can be put together many times over.

This puzzle was well made and a lot of fun. Other complain it kind of weird, definitely a painting on the cover as well as the puzzle.
